Gears of War 2 has won Best Sound in a Video Game at the 3rd Annual ELAN Awards, the Canadian Awards for the Electronic and the Animated Arts. The awards show was hosted by Tom Kenny ("SpongeBob SquarePants") at the Fairmont Hotel in Vancouver, Canada on April 25th.

Bei einem missglückten Stunt für seinen neuen Film Transformers 2: Die Rache verletzte sich der Schauspieler Shia LaBeouf (22) am Auge.
Ein scharfes Objekt schoss durch eines seiner Augenlieder. Im nahe gelegenen US-Militär-Krankenhaus in New Mexico wurde die Wunde sofort genäht. Der Jung.Star hatte extremes Glück. Laut Arzt wäre LaBeouf durch den Unfall um ein Haar auf einem Auge erblindet!

Shia LaBeouf had an accident on the set to Transformers 2 and went nearly blind. He was very lucky!

The incident was played down to the media when it took place last October and Shia was treated by military doctors on the set at Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico, but now the actor has spoken out about the drama.

“I basically stuck a fucking sharp object through my eyelid. They stitched me up in a military hospital. The doctor looks at me and he holds his thumb and forefinger about an inch apart from one another. I said, ‘What is that?’ He said, ‘Blindness.’ This movie was the most physical thing I’ve ever had to do, and I had to do it with a broken hand. It’s the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life. (I was) constantly having to take hits and fall and run through explosions and get hit and beat up all day. Aside from my hand, I also got 25 stitches making this movie, in various parts of my body - stuff that had nothing to do with my hand.”

A soldier who was one of the extras in scenes at Holloman watched the accident that almost cost Shia his sight in one eye.

“We were all pretty impressed. To get up from a movie explosion, which leaves you injured, and get back in there is cool. He’s got broken fingers from his car crash this summer and now his eyelid has been slashed open. He’s lucky he still has his sight. He was treated at the clinic at the airforce base and then a local ophthalmologist came by to check on his eye. He was in the clinic for about four hours and then he returned to the set once the swelling had gone down.”
